SUMMARY:Elementary Math Labs with Allison Gimeli and Charlene DiDonato
DESCRIPTION:In this interactive workshop\, you will learn how to transform an upper elementary classroom into an inquisitive math lab where students are active participants in every step of the learning process. You will experience the math lab firsthand\, engaging with tasks as students would\, to better understand the impact on learning. Drawing on strategies from BuildingThinking Classrooms and insights from past AMTNJ conferences\, we will share our journey of creating a 4th-grade math environment where students feel safe to explore\, solve problems creatively\, and challenge their own thinking. While secondary classrooms are embracing these transformations\, fewer elementary classrooms have made the shift—this workshop aims to bridge that gap and inspire new approaches. \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually. \n

SUMMARY:Multiplication Strategies for Grades 3 and Beyond with Kelly Frazee
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we will dive into multiplication strategies for grades 3 and beyond. There has been much debate in the field for the past decade or so about how to teach basic multiplication and support students’ fact fluency. We will discuss what fluency really means\, learn the importance of teaching strategies for multiplication instead of tricks or memorization\, and explore the power of manipulatives\, conceptual modeling\, and instructional scaffolding in building our students’ multiplication competency. \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.

SUMMARY:The Science of Math with Albert Vilalta and Manu Méndez at Rutgers University
DESCRIPTION:An experiential day in which we will debunk the following 3 myths: 1. Covering The standards is at odds with student thinking. 2.Fluency is all about speed and memorization. 3. Student engagement will always be low in math. Activities will uncover the research that explains how to get students engaged with meaningful math in your K-5 classroom. Expect to re-define your understanding of math\, and take actionable ideas and resources to implement researched best-practices into your classroom tomorrow.  \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.

SUMMARY:Building Data Literacy in Elementary Students with Debra Gulick at Rutgers University
DESCRIPTION:Data literacy is not only a mathematical concept\, but a necessary life skill. Students need to learn what the data tells them and what questions to ask in order to build the foundations for a later understanding of statistics. Informed citizens are flooded with data at every turn\, making data literacy vitally important. Building an understanding of data can be built throughout the school year by building on students’ curiosity and developing a culture of drawing conclusions from data.Teachers will learn how to build visual displays to organize data and guide students’ questions. Data literacy standards in grades 2- 5 are scheduled for implementation in the Fall of 2025. \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.
