SUMMARY:Multiplication Strategies for Grades 3 and Beyond with Kelly Frazee
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we will dive into multiplication strategies for grades 3 and beyond. There has been much debate in the field for the past decade or so about how to teach basic multiplication and support students’ fact fluency. We will discuss what fluency really means\, learn the importance of teaching strategies for multiplication instead of tricks or memorization\, and explore the power of manipulatives\, conceptual modeling\, and instructional scaffolding in building our students’ multiplication competency. \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging and interactive session designed to deepen your understanding of early mathematics. Explore the progression from counting to additive and multiplicative thinking—yes\, even in kindergarten! You’ll discover how your existing routines already support these big ideas\, and learn how to take them even further. In this hands-on workshop\, you’ll play a variety of new games tailored to different math domains\, helping you boost number sense and fluency in fun and practical ways. We’ll also focus on easy strategies to personalize small group instruction based on the unique learners in your classroom. Whether you’re helping confident learners excel or creating accessible entry points for those who need extra support\, this session will equip you with fresh ideas to enhance student engagement. Be prepared to get up\, move around\, and use technology—so don’t forget to bring a device! \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.

SUMMARY:Building Data Literacy in Elementary Students with Debra Gulick at Rutgers University
DESCRIPTION:Data literacy is not only a mathematical concept\, but a necessary life skill. Students need to learn what the data tells them and what questions to ask in order to build the foundations for a later understanding of statistics. Informed citizens are flooded with data at every turn\, making data literacy vitally important. Building an understanding of data can be built throughout the school year by building on students’ curiosity and developing a culture of drawing conclusions from data.Teachers will learn how to build visual displays to organize data and guide students’ questions. Data literacy standards in grades 2- 5 are scheduled for implementation in the Fall of 2025. \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.

SUMMARY:Fractions to Functions with Pam Brett and Anne Paoletti at Rutgers University
DESCRIPTION:This professional learning opportunity for grades 4-12 math teachers delves into the connections between fractions and algebraic thinking through interactive\, hands-on experiences. Participants will engage with model-based\, inquiry-driven lessons using manipulatives\, visual models\, and technology. Teachers will collaborate to co-create classroom-ready strategies\, with time to share ideas and resources during “expert hours.” The workshop is designed to build a network of math educators who can support and build on each other’s ideas. Two virtual follow-up sessions will provide additional opportunities to reflect\, share successes\, and refine teaching practices \nThe cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.

SUMMARY:MATH Movie Night: "Counted Out" at Montclair State University
DESCRIPTION:THE ISSUE\nIn our current information economy\, math is everywhere. The people we date\, the news we see\, the influence of our votes\, the candidates who win elections\, the education we have access to\, the jobs we get—all of it is underwritten by an invisible layer of math that few of us understand\, even notice. \nTHE FILM\nThrough a mosaic of personal stories\, expert interviews\, and scenes of math transformation in action\, Counted Out shows what’s at risk if we keep the mathematical status quo. Do we want an America in which most of us don’t consider ourselves “math people”? Where math proficiency goes down as students grow up? Or do we want a country where everyone can understand the math that undergirds our society—and can help shape it? Click here to watch the trailer. \nTHE TOUR\nThis fall\, we invite you to join the filmmakers behind the eye-opening documentary COUNTED OUT\, as we empower advocates\, organizers\, educators and leaders across the country to host local film screenings of the film and imagine a world in which everyone can sit at the mathematical table.

SUMMARY:AMTNJ One-Day Workshop: Building Data Literacy in your Elementary Classroom (K-5)
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Title: Building Data Literacy in your Elementary Classroom (K-5) \nDate: 1/14/2026 \nTime: 8:30 am – 3 pm \nLocation: West Windsor Plainsboro Regional School District \nFacilitator(s):  Debra Gulick \nDescription:  Data literacy is not only a mathematical concept\, but a necessary life skill. Students need to learn what the data tells them and what questions to ask in order to build the foundations for a later understanding of statistics. Informed citizens are flooded with data at every turn\, making data literacy vitally important. Building an understanding of data can be built throughout the school year by building on students’ curiosity and developing a culture of drawing conclusions from data. Teachers will learn how to build visual displays to organize data and guide students’ questions.
