Building Data Literacy in Elementary Students with Debra Gulick at Rutgers University

March 6, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Data literacy is not only a mathematical concept, but a necessary life skill. Students need to learn what the data tells them and what questions to ask in order to build the foundations for a later understanding of statistics. Informed citizens are flooded with data at every turn, making data literacy vitally important. Building an understanding of data can be built throughout the school year by building on students’ curiosity and developing a culture of drawing conclusions from data.Teachers will learn how to build visual displays to organize data and guide students’ questions. Data literacy standards in grades 2- 5 are scheduled for implementation in the Fall of 2025.

The cost of each One-Day Workshop is $149 for members. Non-members must pay $179 for their first workshop; the additional cost covers membership for a year. Each subsequent workshop would then be $149. Each workshop will be invoiced individually.
